The way in which the public engages with prostitutes is informed and influenced by news print media. This creates a biased understanding of these women and the issues that lead them to, and keep them in the sex-industry. This study aims to examine the ways in which print media is communicating the conditions that lead women to this lifestyle as well as the situations that prevent them from leaving. The objectives of this study are to: 1) identify the themes and word corpus presented in news print media regarding prostitutes; 2) identify the frequency of the presented themes and word corpus. This study analyzed the themes and word corpus of 340 newspaper articles from the Denver Post from 2004-2014 retrieved from a database. Preliminary results of this work report prevalent themes regarding the trafficking and prostituting of minors as well as violence and crimes against prostitutes. Preliminary results of the word corpus portray a narrow use of descriptors that refer to violence, substance abuse, and victimization. Results of this study reveal that print media portray a biased and limited representation of prostitution and prostitutes. This inadequate representation of prostitutes further reinforces the stigma and marginalization of this already vulnerable group.

Locating the issue of feminism in the institutional context of the print media, we discover two popular versions of feminism that the media promote, a feminism of choice' and a 'traditional feminism'. At the same time, they express hostility, both covert and not-so-covert, to organised women's movements. This simultaneous cooptation and backlash is seemingly a sign of a con sensus over some of feminism's demands, such as equality, while it also perverts the agenda of feminism itself—in the interests of a newly liberalised economy and a resurgent majoritarian religious political party movement.

In 2009, the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and the OSCE Academy established the Central Asia Data-Gathering and Analysis Team (CADGAT). This paper examined cartooning in the print media as a form of reporting. Cartooning generally requires a measure of creativity and ability to depict issues and events in pictorial fashion. The use of cartoons has been a long standing feature of the print media, specifically newspapers and magazines. Caricature as a form of art had existed for a very long time in Nigeria before the belief that this form of satirisation in Nigeria is a colonial innovation. The Punch, The Guardian, This Day, The Sun, Vanguard, The Nation, Tell, Newswatch, etc., all publish cartoons and comic strips on social, political and economic affairs of the country or as illustrations of some editorial matter. Cartoons are funny drawings on newspapers and magazines making caricature of societal ills or maladministration. The primary function of the cartoon is communication. Cartoon was originally a sketch for a large canvas or fresco painting for architectural drawings, for tapestry design or for pictures in mosaic or glass. At present, cartoon has no doubt become an indispensable part of modern journalism. The article is however, anchored on two theories: social responsibility theory and agenda-setting theory. The researcher highlighted three major types of newspaper cartoons, which are: comic strips, political cartoons and gag cartoons. While considering the prominence and personality involved in drawing cartoon, the cartoonist also has to consider the timeliness of the issue being presented to the readers. The researcher identified some of the functions/roles of newspaper cartoons, among which is that cartoon provides readers with the platform of the formation of public opinion. Elections in many developing countries such as Nigeria remain complex and cannot be handled solely by the government, as a vibrant print media is part of this exercise. Unfortunately, the Nigerian electoral process cannot be said to enjoy free, fair, and credible elections. Research design for the study was descriptive research, which combined both qualitative and quantitative methods. The sample was divided into two categories of a total of eight hundred and twenty (820) questionnaire respondents and sixteen (16) key respondents and interviewees from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and Lagos State, being the hub of media establishments and highly cosmopolitan locations in Nigeria. The study used survey, interview, and observation methods of data collection. Quantitative analysis was done using responses elicited from structured questionnaires. Content analysis of qualitative data was carried out on the selected 10 print media publications based on national spread. Findings showed that the print media contributed to creating better perception of the nation's electoral process by international observers (Mean = 3.9497, St.D = 2.20417), the print media embarked upon improper reportage, selective coverage and failed to report actual happenings during elections because of undue influence by politicians and proprietors media establishments, thereby misinforming the people. The study concluded that the print media is important for smooth electoral process during the period of the study (1999-2019), despite challenges such as inadequate funding, and non-adherence to professional ethics by some print media journalists.

The current aquaculture methods are criticized by the public for potentially causing ecological problems and health risks for consumers. An unfavorable public perception may lead to a decline in consumption. Also the production might be affected negatively since legislation and as such approval procedures are influenced by public perception. The aquaculture industry has to consider public reactions to their production practices in order to prosper further. .

Welsh Presbyterian Missionaries contributed in the publication of newspapers in Meghalaya. Their motive was to promote Christian religious faith among the native Indians of this hilly region dominated by three major tribes. Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya was the then capital of Assam and NEFA (North Eastern Frontier Agency). Their initiatives led to the translation of the religious books in the local language, which laid the foundation of the Khasi literature. Newspapers in the initial stage of its publication in Meghalaya were confined more to the cultural awakening and preserving the indigenous background against the new transition. After independence, with the growth educational and political awareness, the regional newspapers had augmented the political aspirations of the people of Meghalaya. The Government of India has recognized this rising aspiration by awarding separate statehood to this hilly region which thereafter got this name – Meghalaya.
